Anirudh > Kanti. She is a 65 year old elephant belonging to the forest department at BR Hills and is used for the elephant rides. They let her free into the jungle during the night to forage for food and they bring her back in the morning. I was told that, sometimes, she joins the herd of jungle elephants and they put up a brave fight before letting her go to her mahut. And we thought camaraderie was a human thing.

Anirudh > Sambar Deer - Female with Calf. Notice a patch of red on the neck of the deer, almost like a wound with blod oozing out. Female Sambars get this patch during the breeding season. It's called a 'Sore Patch'. No one really knows why this happens. It could be some hormones secreted by the deer or some itchy fungus which they try to get rid of by rubbing it against a tree, thus causing bleeding.
